Operation

The LAG must take the following into account when assessing a project:

Ability of applicant to deliver the project. The project must have controls and procedures to safeguard delivery of the objectives.
To what extent is there a need for the project and a need for LEADER funding.
Community involvement - degree of participation, involvement and support from the community.
Sustainability - evidence of continuing benefit.
Transferability - ease of transferring ideas and lessons learnt to other projects, e.g. the Rural Network, SRDP, and Rural Development Contracts.
The capacity for the project to create new employment for all sectors, but especially women, young people and the under-employed.

A sub-group of the LAG, the Decision Making Body (DMB), will assess all the applications in full, reporting and making recommendations to the LAG. The DMB has delegated authority to approve applications for LEADER funding up to £10,000.

Decision to award funding of greater than £10,000 or to reject such an application, must be approved by the LAG Partnership.

In conjunction with LAG members the LEADER Team will promote and raise awareness of the LEADER Programme. Details of promotional events are located in the News and Events section.
